Curved solid-wood component had been increasingly used in solid-wood furniture products.However,it was found that resource utilization rate was low and production costs was high.In reaction to the phenomenon,new-style curved solid-wood furniture component manufacturing process was designed and developed in this paper to enhance productivity and reduce production costs.In the manufacturing process,solid-wood physical and mechanical properties was regarded as a significant reference basis.On the basis of high moisture content wood surface wettability,new-style linear solid-wood component manufacturing process(That is finger-joint wood,including finger-joint lengthening?widening with adhesive?thickening with adhesive)was designed and developed,which was improved reasonably to achieve new-style curved solid-wood furniture component and its manufacturing process.Firstly,physical and mechanical properties of Pinus massoniana Lamb.?Cinnamomum and Cunninghamia lanceolata(Lamb.)Hook.were tested,the results show that average air-dry density of two wood were 0.623?0.544?0.312 g·cm-3,average MOR were 75.2?75.4?40.5MPa,average MOE were 3690?6890?4250MPa,average compression strength parallel to grain were 50.8?42.3?34.5MPa.Therefore,all three materials could be used in the follow-up process.Secondly,surface wettability of three materials was tested,the results show that surface wettability could meet follow-up finger-joint laminated process.Thirdly,finger-joint parameters set by document research and factory production experience were set finger-joint height?finger-joint teeth tips width?finger-joint tooth space root width?oblique angle ?1?oblique angle ?2?fitness ratio as 11.73mm?1.00mm?0.66mm?5.14°?5.78°?0.34 mm respectively.On the basis of new-style curved solid-wood furniture component and its manufacturing process,research of new-style curved solid-wood component manufacturing process was developed by existing finger-joint laminated production lines,MOR?MOE and parallel-to-grain compressive strength were tested,the results show that the end face of component element was milled into finger-joint when it was sawed from high moisture content wood blocks(without knots),then finger-joint surface moisture content were regulated and controlled to 30%~50% by natural drying.When adhesive all were PVAc,glue consumption all were 220~260g/m2,end pressure all were 1.30 MPa,environment temperature was around 25?,finger-joint lengthening process could be accomplished successfully,moreover,mechanical strength was retained relatively well compared to the material itself.Finally,in the process of design and development,new-style curved solid-wood furniture component manufacturing process could be a standardized and mechanization system to replace the manufacturing process of solid-wood sawing and solid-wood bending.
