With the development of construction industry and the increasing requirement on the architectural decorations, nature stone becomes the first selection in the construction field.But natural stone for wall decoration is limited due to security factors, people pay much more attention to the multicolor coatings which are light and thin. Water-in-water multicolor coatings are the decorative paints which have developed rapidly in recent years. It is widely used in the field of building decoration because of the characters of unique patterns, weather resistant, non-toxic and environmentally friendly.In this paper,water-in-water multicolor coatings' gel color particle and multicolor coatings were prepared with Laponite RDS type which was regarded as protective colloid. It studied the influence of coating composition and preparation technology on the formation and dye penetration performance of gel color particle of the multicolor coatings and the coating system, then the dosage of the main coating composition and conditions of preparation technology were determined. Meanwhile, this kind of multicolor coatings was prepared on the surface of aluminum alloy. And the adhesion and the anti-corrosion properties were studied.The dosages of acrylic emulsion,cellulose,protective colloid solution and pigment in colored paint have an effect on coatings' gel color particle and coating system. Dye penetration performance of the gel color particle is characterized by UV. When the amount of acrylic emulsion, cellulose, sealants solution and pigment in colored paint is 30% (wt%),0.74% (wt%), 2.8% (wt%) and 0.5% (wt%) respectively, stirring rate is 250r/min and stirring time is 10min.The gel color particle obtained by dispersion has a better generate effect, which has higher UV transmittance, gel color particle stability and stronger resistance to Dye penetration.The concentration of the protective colloid solution and stabilizer and storage time of the gel solution have some influences on the gel color particle and coating performance. When the concentration of protective colloid solution is 7% (wt%), and stabilizer concentration is 2.33% (wt%), and storage time of the gel solution is 24h, generating effect of the gel color particle obtained is better.The conventional performance of water-based multicolor coatings is tested according to industry standards; the result shows that various performances can meet requirements of the industry standard. The adhesion of multicolor coatings on aluminum alloy surface reached secondary. The corrosion resistance of multicolor coatings on aluminum alloy was tested in the 3.5% NaCl solution. And the substrate after corrosion was observed. It revealed that the coating can protect the substrate from corrosion at some level. The corrosion resistance and the protective effect to the matrix of the coating are decreased with the increasing of the immersion time.
