China is a manufacturing powerhouse. Recently many western countries put forward manufacturing strategies such as reindustrialization and manufacturing regression, they intend to fight for high-end manufacturing competitive advantage depend on their advanced manufacturing, information and intelligent technologies. In the meanwhile low-end manufacturing are shifting to Southeast Asia in result of labor cost raise. Chinese manufacturing is facing double challenges both on high-end and low-end, traditional produce mode is not sustainable, it is urgently to upgrade Chinese manufacturing.Based on intelligent manufacturing(IM) theories and Chinese manufacturing feather-mainly are SMEs, this paper studies the architecture design, development and implement of intelligent manufacturing system(IMS) software taking die-casting plant of XX chair company as a case. At the same time, this paper analyzes suitable software development tools for SMEs to develop and implement IMS, and describes the implementation of prototype system in detail. The proposed system and related researches in this paper have a reference value for SMEs'intelligent reformation.In Chapter 1, the research background and the research progress on IM are introduced, the research objects and methods are defined and the framework and the content of this paper are proposed.In Chapter 2, the workflow,participating roles and each role's functional needs of the plant are defined.In Chapter 3, IMS architecture, functional modules based on user-centered rules and suitable software development tools for SMEs are defined. General purpose process modules are concluded in order to develop reusable modules according to the function.In Chapter 4, interface modules are designed which are combined to create reusable software modules. The realized prototype system is displayed and running instances of the functional modules are introduced.In Chapter 5,the research work in this paper and prospects for future research work are summarized.
