Reactive dyes have been applied for dyeing of cellulose fabrics because of their features of bright color, good fastness, low production costs, broad spectrum range and easy to use.Black reactive dyes, which can be represented by C.I.Reactive black 5,are the most important species among reactive dyes for the large consumption amount. But so far, there is no black reactive dye which can evenly and fully absorb in the visible light spectrum.Because of the good compatibility with other reactive dyes,C.I.Reactive Black 5 is still the most important single dye in the production and sale up to now. However, there are also some disadvantages in its application, such as lower build up property and not enough in blackening. So,response to the above problems, this paper synthesized six novel black reactive dyes based on the study of optimum synthesis process of C.I Reactive Black 5,and characterized their structures with IR spectrum. The molecular structures for the dyes are as follows:(?)The maximum absorption wavelengths of all the six reactive black dyes are between 590 and 630nm.The dyes are suitable as reactive navy dyes for reactive deep black dyes.Besides, the fixation of dye3,dye4,dye5,dye6 are higher than C.I.Reactive Black 5,the dyes can be utilized efficiently which leads to a shaken brade on the fabric. They also provide better rubbing fastness and wet fastness properties, and the other application properties were satisfying as well.
