Spherical tank is important chemical equipment,since 1910,the first spherical tank born in America;so far the world's total number of working spherical tank is more than seventy thousands.With the increase in demand of society and the development of science and technology,the need of design and manufacture of the large-scale spherical tank will keep rise,which gives the test on the design,manufacturing and maintenance.As special equipment,the formation of current spherical tank design methods and the corresponding specifications is based on the accumulation of a lot of experiences of the relative small volume spherical tanks,which has a long history of successful application.However,when these specifications apply to large spherical tank design,it is a serious problem that whether the application will generate new problems.This situation should be carefully faced by engineers.Based on the phenomenon that pillars of two 3000m3 trichlorosilane spherical tank appear moving inward in the real application,the present research launched a finite element analysis on the pillar moving inward of the large-diameter spherical tank filled by the media.Including research of occurs,distribution and residual deformation characteristics of plastic zone between the pillars and shell during a single loading and unloading cycle,research the influence of the plastic zone and residual deformation from medium density;analysis the moving and restriction of pillars during loading and unloading cycle process,relationship between residual deformation and pillar inward moving;relationship between accumulation of residual deformation and pillar inward moving;damage from pillar reseting to spherical tank and measures to be taken for pillar reseting security;issues should be noted to prevent pillar inward moving when spherical tank is working.Analysis of pillar inward moving issues is blind of existing spherical tank design specifications,the present research analysis of typical case of 3000m3 trichlorosilane spherical tank pillar inward moving using a physical nonlinear finite element analysis technology,while introduces finite element analysis method in the analysis of spherical tank complex geometric parts intensity reserves and safety assessment in process of pillar reseting,have reference meaning to the engineering design,construction,maintenance and specifications revisions of spherical tank in the future.
