The unique appearance of air textured yarn is increasingly playing an important role in the field of textile raw material.The appearance of the staple yarn is showed by monofilament intertwined between each other and highlighted circle arc structure of the yarn surface.With the diversification of raw materials,personalized style and multiple performance in the field of clothing,market competition is more and more fierce.Therefore,in some extent,it is necessary to develop new textile products.Air tuxtured yarn has the advantage of wide range of raw materials,low cost,variety and good performance,which is favored by more and more consumers.With the development of preparation technology and product performance,air tuxtured yarn has broad market prospects.Currently,more and more research scholars have studied on the process of air tuxtured yarn.They have found that the type of monofilament,linear density,overfeed rate,air pressure and the component pattern of monofilament has an important influence on circle arc structure of the yarn surface and performance of air tuxtured yarn.The development of the computer has provided a great platform for gas-solid two phase flow research.Fluent has played an important role in numerical simulation of flow field inside the three-dimensional nozzle,study on the movement characteristics of fiber,and the analysis of the experimental data.However,at present there is hardly any report about the manufacturing technique and fabric performance of nylon/polypropylene air tuxtured yarn,which is the same with the research of fiber texturing mechanism.Based on the above reason,research work under study is as follows:(1)The article has anslyzed the flow field in the nozzle by Fluent software.Studies have shown that from the yarn-inlet to yarn-outlet airflow field was a trend of diminishing.Monofilament slips and tangles under the impact of high pressure airflow.In addition,there is the mixture of subsonic and supersonic condition in the trumpet nozzle outlet.Then fiber particle model was set up,and we simulated fiber movement in airflow field.Thus the texturingmechanism was analyzed.We have found with the overfeed rate increasing Monofilament slip and interspace between paticle tracking increased.In the process of simulation,the surface circle arc structure of NN air textured yarn became outstanding under the overfeed rate increasing.Also the surface circle arc structure of NN-25/10 air textured yarn evenly distributed and the circle arc structure was the most stable.(2)Respectively,under different overfeed rate,we have designed paratactic pattern and sheath-core air textured yarn,with nylon and polypropylene monofilament as the core yarn,nylon monofilament for the surface yarn.Then tested and analyzed the yarn performence,such as,linear density,mechanical property,yarn unevenness,boiling water shrinkage and structural instability.Finally,using image processing method we have analyzed the circle arc structure.We found that when air tuxtured yarn had the same composition,with the overfeed rate increasing,the breaking elongation and the yarn unevenness of paratactic pattern air tuxtured yarn increased;However,initial modulus,breaking strength and boiling water shrinkage declined.Sheath-core air textured yarn showed low-strength,low-modulus,low-yarn unevenness and stability of the yarn structure.Nevertheless,when the overfeed rate is invariability,paratactic pattern of NP air textured yarn had the features of high-modulus,low-strength,low-elongation,low-linear density,low-yarn unevenness,low-boiling water shrinkage and good stability of the yarn structure.But sheath-core of NP air textured yarn has showed high-strength,high-elongation,high-modulus,low-boiling water shrinkage and yarn unevenness.Howwver,structural instability is higher.(3)According to the preparation of the above air textured yarn,we have finished knitting with the single needle sock machine.And tested the performance of fabric thickness,mechanical properties,gas permeability,moisture permeability,wicking effect,and the dyeing properties.In the paper,we have found the fabric of NP air textured yarn has outstanding gas permeability.But on the contrary,moisture permeability is poor and the fabric is easy to pilling.At the same time,the fabric of NN-25/10 air textured yarn has good gas and moisture permeability and wicking effect,which with soft feature can be developed in the field of underwear.
