In nowadays,the automobile industry is growing with the development of industry and economy resulting in the increase of tire enterprises."Black pollution" of the waste rubber caused serious pollution to the environment,which is also a serious waste of resources.Therefore,the scrapping of automobile tires becomes a driving force for the multipolarity development of rubber recycling industry.The waste tire pyrolysis technology has become one of the most effective methods in treating waste tires.As one of the pyrolysis products,pyrolytic carbon black comes from all kinds of carbon black in ruber formula which is accumulated and collectedin the process of rubber macromolecules decomposition.The properties of pyrolytic carbon black are different from the common industrial carbon black leading to its difference application in rubber reinforcement.The characterization,application and modification of pyrolytic carbon black are mainly studied in this manuscript,which might provide theroretical guidance for the second application of pyrolytic carbon black.Firstly,the basic physical and chemical properties of pyrolytic carbon black were studied in this manuscript,including iodine absorption,DBP oil absorption value,PH and the composition of surface elemental and ash.The results show that there is a wide particle size distribution of pyrolytic carbon black,which belongs to the low structural degree carbon black with ash value 14.4%,much higher than ordinary commercial carbon black.Ash mainly includes Zn,Na,Al and S elements,which comes from the complex agents and filler in tires' formula.The C elements on the surface of CBp mainly exists in the form of C-C,C-OH,C-OEt,C=O,COOEt and plasmon.Secondly,the application of pyrolytic carbon black in rubber was studied,which was used in NR,SBR and EPDM,and compared with other fillers.The results show that the reinforcement effect of pyrolytic carbon black was quite different from ordinary industrial carbon black,when NR and SBR were filled by CBp,tensile strength and tear strength were superior to N330,but the modulus at 100% and 300% were particularly low,which might influence the industrial application of CBp.The tensile strength and modulud of foamed EPDM filled by CBp were better than kaolin,which even bubble size and complete bubble structure,and the energy absorption ability was similar to kaolin filled vulcanizates.The application of CBp combined with SiC could be used to improve the thermal conductivity of rubber obviously.The pyrolytic carbon black is modified based on the principle of low cost,easy operation and ease industrialization.The coupling agent dry modification,petroleum ether modification,grinding modification and in-situ modification were used to improve the reinforcement of pyrolytic carbon black.The results show that the Si-69 modification,petroleum ether modification,and grinding modification can effectively improve the reinforcing properties of pyrolytic carbon black.When ratio of ZDMA/CBp/DCP was 8/40/1.8phr,the best mechanical strength of reinforced rubber was obtained by using in situ formation of ZDMA method.
