Hazard and operability analysis is mainly used to analyze, find and predict the design defects in the chemical process, operational procedures defects and other possible hidden dangers. It has been widely used in chemical, petrochemical, oil refining, pharmaceutical and other industries. However, with the rapid development of these industries, the traditional HAZOP qualitative analysis can not meet the needs of safe production. In this paper,a new quantitative analysis method combining HAZOP with process simulation technology is proposed,in which a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method and a risk analysis matrix are used to combine the risk assessment methods.First of all, this paper summarized the research progress and industrial application of HAZOP analysis method by investigating the domestic and foreign literatures, and expounded the necessity of HAZOP quantitative analysis.Secondly, based on the analysis of HAZOP quantitative analysis of domestic and foreign experts, the HAZOP quantitative analysis method is improved, and a new method of quantitative simulation of HAZOP process is proposed. The method of “quantitative” mainly come from two aspects: The one is the quantification of the deviation of HAZOP analysis, the general process simulation software Aspen Plus is used to simulate the process, tha is the influence of different degree of deviation on the system is obtained, and the deviation is quantified;the other one is the quantification of HAZOP analysis results,in this paper,we propose a method to combine the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation and the risk evaluation matrix to quantify the consequences of the accident, that is the expert scoring method is used to determine the probability of accident occurrence and the severity of the accident, and the risk rating is obtained by the risk evaluation matrix.Thirdly, based on the above method, this paper developed the Aspen-Excel-HAZOP auxiliary analysis software by software integration technology. The software uses the VBA language to compose macro commands to call Aspen Plus Excel interface program Aspen Simulation Workbook, the data are transferred between Aspen Plus and Excel,"deviations" and simulation results are visual displayed in the Excel table, which can automatically form HAZOP Analysis reports,so the efficiency and reliability of HAZOP analysis are significantly improved. Finally, the typical chemical process such as vinyl chloride synthesis process and toluene and methylcyclohexane azeotropic distillation process are introduced in this paper, which are carried out using the above-mentioned HAZOP quantitative analysismethod,to verify the feasibility and reliability of the method. The results show that this method can effectively overcome the fuzziness and uncertainty of the traditional HAZOP qualitative analysis, improve the relevance of the analysis results, and clearly point out the weak links and risk levels of the evaluation system, and find out the potential risk factors and possible consequences of the accident. Thus, the method presented in the paper can be used in the industries to provide a reliable basis for the safety management of enterprises.
