Resources and the environment are the basic conditions and inflexible constraints for sustainable development.Recently,the rapid development of science and technology with the greatly improved productivity have promoted the progress of human society,on the other hand,it makes some issues become increasingly prominent,like population surge,resource shortage,environmental degradation,ecological damage and so on,which makes the limited supply of resources and environmental capacity,in turn,restrict the sustainable development of social economy.Resources and environmental carrying capacity is not only an important basis for evaluating and measuring the harmonious development of man-earth relationship,but also an important index to measure the regional sustainable development.Therefore,it is necessary to study on resources and environmental carrying capacity assessment under the urgent situation of resources and environmentHainan Island is the largest tropical island of China and located in the southern end of our country,enjoying exceptional advantages of regional conditions and tourism resources.In recent years,the requirement of constructing international tourism island has promoted greatly the development of economics and society,but in the meanwhile the contradiction between population and resources with environment has become more prominent,and resulting in much attention is paid to some issues like resource shortage and environmental degradation.In the face of the grim population situation and the rapid development of social economy,people are concerning about whether the local resources have the appropriate support to meet the future needs of the population development and whether the local environmental capacity can bear the growing population pressure and economic development needs.Therefore,this paper systematically analyzes the regional geological background and the current situation of resources and environment in Hainan Island.Based on the Hainan Island development program,carrying out some researches about resources and environmental carrying capacity assessment,including its theoretical system,method model and practice of evaluation and finally completed the land oriented zoning in Hainan Island based on resources and environmental carrying capacity assessment results.The main contents and conclusions of this study are as follows:?1?Single factor's carrying capacity of resources and environment research: this paper established the single factor evaluation index system of resource and environment comprehensive evaluation in Hainan Island based on the main resourceand environmental problems faced by Hainan Island at this stage,including land resource,water resource,geological relics resource,geological environment,soil environment and water environment.Forming the technical route and evaluation system of the six single factors' carrying capacity assessment by making a detailed investigation and analysis of the six elements in Hainan Island and exploring the relevant literature.Then carried out the single factors' research and drew the zoning maps of six.single factors' carrying capacity.The six single factors' evaluation results are as follows:?1?The population carrying capacity of land resources calculated by three land use types in Hainan Island is good,and only individual regions are overload.?2?Hainan Island abounds in water resources and its population capacity is comparative bigger.It can take up to more than 15 million people on the basis of the existing population scal.?3?Make an value assessment of 84 geological relics resources in Hainan Island according to six natural properties,like scientificity,ornamental,scal,etc,and three social properties,like accessibility,safety and protection,etc.?4?The regional crustal stability of Hainan Island is steady but the geology hazards liability is high,and the latter leads to relatively fragile geological environment.The evaluation results show that the carrying capacity of Hainan Island's geological environment is low and the highly vulnerable areas are mainly distributed in the central mountainous areas.?5?Affected by soil parent material,the overloading area of the eight heavy metals in the soil environment of Hainan Island is mainly distributed in the volcanic rock platform area of Qiongbei.In general,the soil environmental capacity is high all over the island.?6?The water environment carrying level is common in Hainan Island,especially the small and medium-sized rivers in the northwest and northeast aera are seriously polluted by CODCr and NH3-N.?2?Comprehensive carrying capacity evaluation research: on the basis of the carrying capacity evaluation of six resource and environment single factors,selected the population carrying capacity of land resources and water resources and used the short board theory to analyse the comprehensive population carrying capacity of Hainan Island.The results show that the comprehensive population carrying capacity is relatively low but for the most ideal and secure population capacity.Proposed and established the K-means cluster analysis and Map GIS space analysis comprehensive carrying capacity evaluation model of Hainan Island and finally divide it into non-overload zone,carrying critical zone and overload zone 3 bearing grade.The evaluation results show that the level of resource and environmental carrying capacityof Hainan Island is good,and the proportion of non-overloaded zones is the largest,which mainly distributed in the vast coastal areas of Hainan Island and the northern aera,like Tunchang County and Ding'an County.Carrying critical zones are mainly distributed in the north of Hainan Island,including some part of Danzhou City,Chengmai County,Lin Gao County,Haikou City.Overload zones are concentrated in the central island hilly areas.?3?Land oriented zoning research: carried out the major function oriented zoning according to the resources and environment carrying capacity evaluation results and the existing land use planning of Hainan Island,which determined the distribution of the priority development zones,optimizing development zones,restricted development zones,forbidden development zones,and restricted development zones including major production areas and major ecological function areas.Analyzed the resources and environmental carrying capacity of four major function oriented zones and the distribution characteristics of the land use pattern of Hainan Island,which is characterized by ecology circle,agricultural circle,city circle,from the inside to the outside.Based on the evaluation results of resource and environment carrying capacity,determined the boundary of urban development by delineating the permanent and basic farmland protection red line and the ecological protection red line,which could provide scientific guidance for land use control in Hainan Island.
