The Application Study Of Tenon Structrue In Jewelry Design

Since the reform and opening up,China’s economy has developed continuously,and people’s consumption level has also improved.In that,jewelry industry has developed rapidly.However,with the progress of the times,people’s consumption concept gradually changed from material needs into the spiritual needs.Accordingly,people’s consumption concept of jewelry also changed from the traditional ’hedging’ needs into ’personalized’ needs.Nevertheless,the jewelry products of current domestic jewelry market can’t adapt to this change.First of all,most jewelry products still use the structure that can’t be disassembled so that they always keep in the same shapes,which can’t meet the needs of consumers,and is also not convenient to maintain.Second,the jewelry market itself,has many problems waiting to be solved,such as: serious homogenization phenomenon,lack of Chinese characteristics jewelry and so on.Therefore,the domestic jewelry market has an urgent need of changing to meet the needs of the vast number of consumers.In order to solve the problems mentioned above,this paper attempts to apply the traditional Chinese tenon structure into jewelry design.The tenon structure is a convex-concave combination,and there are four purposes of combining it with jewelry design.Firstly,the feature of tenon structure can be used to design detachable tenon jewelry in order to meet the new needs of consumers.Secondly,change the present status of the domestic jewelry market by designing original jewelry.Thirdly,creating Chinese characteristics jewelry.Fourthly,carry forward the traditional tenon structure,and explore the modern application method of it.This paper observes the follow research principles: from theory to practice.First of all,have a clear picture of current research situation by reading a large number of references related to jewelry and tenon structure,and refer to their ideas.Secondly,have a comprehensive analysis of jewelry,including kinds,materials,manufacturing technology and so on,in order to understand jewelry deeply.Then,understand customer’s needs through market research and learn advanced jewelry design theory to lay the foundation for jewelry design.Thirdly,understand the kind and principles of tenon structure by reading relevant references and observing real object,and summarize the features and the modern application principles of tenon structure.Finally,integrate the above research contents and analysis results in order to design tenon jewelry reasonably.In the progress of study,the method of documentation,empirical research and qualitative analysis have been used.The core results of the study is the tenon jewelry named as ’Huarong Road’.The three main innovation points of the jewelry are as followed: 1.Tenon structure jewelry design.Through the use of traditional tongue-and-groove joint,the jewelry is able to be disassembled into different jewelry components which are not only easy to maintain,but also beneficial to environment protection and sustainable development.2.Modular jewelry design.The unique inserting structure of jewelry can create a variety of visual effects or turn to other kind of jewelry by inserting different module components,which increases the possibilities of jewelry and meets the needs of personalized jewelry.3.Emotional jewelry design.The special assembling method of jewelry can add a lot of fun during the process of wearing the products.It also allows customers to participate in jewelry design and give them the ability to express their emotions and themselves.
