In this paper,we have designed and synthesized four Schiff-base compounds. The fluorescence properties of these compounds for metal ions have been studied carefully. This paper consists of five chapters, the main contents are as follows:In the first chapter,we make a brief introduction to the basic knowledge of the Schiff-base compounds.Furthermore, the different types of fluorescent probes based on different sensing mechanisms have been briefly summarized. Then the background knowledge and the basic research status on aluminum, zinc ion in the recent years have been presented. In the second chapter,we have designed and synthesized the 2-formylpyrole-(3'-hydroxy-2'-naphthoyl)hydrazone(L1).The compound could be used as a fluorescent probe for sensing aluminum ion. This probe exhibited high selectivity and sensitivity to the aluminum ion.The free fluorescent probe showed almost no-fluorescence,however,a signif icant fluorescence enhancement was observed in addition of aluminum ion.The value of the detection of L to aluminum was as low as 2.72×10-9 mol/L level. In the third chapter,we prepared probe 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde(pyridine-4-formyl)hydrazone(L2)for detecting aluminum ion.The experiments showed that the fluorescent probe had highly sensitivity and selectivity towards aluminum ion.The detection limit of L2 for sensing aluminum ion in the water can reach as low as 10-7 mol/L level. In the fourth chapter,a fluorescent probe based on 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde(3'-hydroxy-2'-naphthoyl)(L3)was designed and synthesized. This Schiff-base compound could be used as a fluorescent probe for detecting zinc ion.We proved the highly selective and sensitive detection of L3 to zinc ion through a series of experiments. In the last chapter,we have developed a fluorescent probe based on 7-hydroxyl-4-methyl-8-formylcoumarin(3'4'5'-triethoxylbentoyl)hydratone(L4).This fluorescent probe could selectively and sensitively sense aluminum ion and zinc ion in different excitation wavelengths. This fluorescent probe could greatly reduce the cost of detections and had a good value of application.
