The purpose of this paper is to highlight the design goals and ideas for the low-speed electric car tires,to design a new tire,to study the tire rolling resistance by finite element method,and to propose more effictive suggestions for the designing of the low-speed electric car tires in the future.In this paper,the mechanism of tire rolling resistance has been expounded.On this basis,the calculation formula and calculation flow of tire rolling resistance have been deduced by finite element method.Low-speed electric car tires have characteristics of low speed,low rolling resistance,low noise,lightweight,low cost,appropriate lateral stability and service life compared with ordinary radial tires.This paper puts forward the design goals and design ideas of low-speed electric car tires according to the above characteristics.The design of the large angle belt and DNA double helix pattern are innovation points.A 155/65R17 79 Q low-speed electric car tire is designed for low-speed electric car Beijing automotive EV200,by completing its structural design and the calculations of the main components' intensities and safety factor.In this paper,the three-dimensional finite element modeling of tires have been carried out by using ABAQUS.Based on the results of simulation analysis,the rolling resistance and the rolling resistance coefficient have been calculated by MATLAB.The influence of tire pressure and belt angle on rolling resistance and rolling resistance coefficient of the low-speed electric car tires have been investigated.The contributions of each part rubber to the total rolling resistance distribution have been also analyzed for the designed and original tires.The results show that the rolling resistance and the rolling resistance coefficient of the low-speed electric car tires will decrease with the increase of the inflation pressure,and when the pressure is higher than 3.5 bar,the effect of reducing the rolling resistance is weakened.The rolling resistance and the rolling resistance coefficient of low-speed electric car tires will reduce with the increase of the belt angle,but the impact of various parts of the tire rolling resistance trends are different.With the same rubber material,the rolling resistance of the low-speed electric car tire 155/65R17 has reduced by 29% compared with the original tire 185/65R14,but the contributions of tread rubber to the total rolling resistance distribution is greater than the original tires.The rolling resistance coefficient level from the original level of C to raise the level of A,which fully confirmed the design ideas of the low-speed electric car tires are proposed.These results are very meaningful to the design and development of the low-speed electric car tires in the future.
