In order to improve enterprise competitiveness in the economy market,the mineral processing plant constantly adopted the new technologies and the new methods to improve and optimize the automatic control system in process. Among them, the flotation liquid level control technology had a big change.According to the characteristics of the ore dressing process flow and liquid level control, it was made a statistical analysis of the unstable factors affecting the level control and determined the major factors which were the pneumatic valve and the PID control method. The change of flotation pulp level was nonlinear and big and faster change, under the influence of device operation and the material supply. Taking the corresponding corrective actions, it had the technical reformation on the PLC power and pneumatic actuator, and added the of two-stage filter pre-processor of datas in order to make up for the control defects of the linear PID control on the nonlinear variable, and added a fuzzy control links to constitute a fuzzy PID control, increased the Smith predictor. After the technical transformation,the flotation range of liquid level was from± 30mm to ± 10 mm. In order to achieve the function of remote parameter setting and monitoring through the computer control system, it established with the communication between SIEMEN and Rockwell through Profibus-DP network bus technology, while the level of the automatic control system was highly centralized.The new control method of flotation pulp-level has been proved in the process, at the same time, the controlling precision was improved and reduced the fluctuation range of the liquid level Under the computer control system of flotation pulp level was optimized, it was not only improved the metal recovery rate of flotation concentrate, and reduced equipment failure rate and maintenance cost, and had the good tracking performance and anti-interference ability of the control system, improved the stability of flotation pulp level and the quality of flotation product, created the remarkable economic benefits.
