Gun drill hole machining tool with large length to diameter ratio,is one of the most main tool processing of deep hole.Gun drill tube,the main structure of gun has an important influence on the cutting performance,such as the durability,machining accuracy,ability of chip removal,the shape of the chip and other mechanical properties.The strength of drill tube,impact toughness and torsional strength have been especially required,because of the high speed as well as the huge impact during the deep hole machining.The mechanical properties of gun drill rod will cause the vibration and bending of the gun,which makes drill chipping and fracture,leading to some bad influence on the processing cycle of the product.The gun drill material made in our country are mostly dependent on imports while the foreign production technology has always been kept secret.In order to realize the localization of gun drill tube,improve the machining efficiency of gun drill,the performance improvement of the design and production of gun drill tube has been studied in this paper.Dalian Jerry Tool technologies AG has been preliminarily explore on 42CrMo gun drill tube material production,but the mechanical properties and performance improvement of the gun drill tube which are more important have not been studied.Firstly,the production materials and the production process of the gun drill tube has been analyzed,the process of gun drill tube mechanical properties——permeability of nano diamond——has been determined and the experiment testing cutting ability,such as the validation gun drill tube material hardness,torsional strength,mechanical properties has been designed.The experimental results showed that:the gun drill tubes made in 42CrMo has exceeded that in United States on the mechanical properties;Entering into the 42CrMo steel,Nano diamond particles changed the internal microstructure of the material form;dealed with the permeability of nano diamond,42CrMo gun drill tube hardness increased by 30%,torsional strength increased by 17%;The gun drill tube was more stable improved on the cutting performance.Therefore,after infiltration nanometer diamond processing,42CrMo gun drill tube mechanical performance and cutting performance has become more stable and the quality of the product processing has been improved.
