1,1,2,2-tetrabromoethylene?CHBr2CHBr2?is widely used in organic synthesis,such as the synthesis of quaternary ammonium salt,and the intermediates of medicines and dyes.In the industry,it is mainly applied as the cocatalyst for the oxidation process of terephthalic acid,the flame retardant for plastic products such as polystyrene foam,mineral flotation agent,killing fluid,etc.Currently,kinds of the synthesis methods for CHBr2CHBr2 have been reported,yet they have different defects in some aspects.With social progress and the continuous development of science and technology,the demand for CHBr2CHBr2 is increasing at home and abroad.As a result,how to effectively synthesize CHBr2CHBr2 and to design the reasonable synthesis process become a problem urgently to be solved in current industrial production.In this paper,we compared the advantages and disadvantages of four different synthesis process for CHBr2CHBr2,which could provide references for the design of new synthesis process.1.Firstly,we briefly introduced the properties and applications of CHBr2CHBr2,and reviewed the existing problems in the production and synthesis process in the following.Finally,the research idea was put forward after analyzing and summarizing the related research.2.The effects of experimental parameters were explored in details,including the reaction temperature and time,illumination,chlorine content,stabilizing agent,etc.And the reason and characteristics of CHBr2CHBr2 oxidative decomposition were also analyzed.On the basis of literature research,the reaction temperature was increased to70?80?,and the reaction time was reduced to 4 h.The changes were no effect on product quality,and the reaction process was still safe and reliable.When decreased the chlorine content in bromine?<0.01%?,the content of byproducts containing chlorine could be stable at the level of less than 0.05%,reducing the impact on the quality of CHBr2CHBr2.Stabilizing agent played key role in the production of CHBr2CHBr2,and the related mechanism was discussed.3.The effect of composite stabilizer on tetrabromoethylene was researched.The main stabilizer was ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether.The auxiliary components was composed by diisooctyl phenyl phosphate,zinc strearte,barium stearate and dehydroacetic acid.4.The prospect for further work was proposed to further optimize the synthesis method to increase the yield of CHBr2CHBr2,which could provide theoretical basis and data support to design a more reasonable synthesis process of CHBr2CHBr2.
