The advanced 4300 mm hot-rolled plate production line is currently being employed by Shouqin Company,which requires strictly controlling operation parameters through the whole procedural.The unstable factors such as improper operation may affect the quality of products,interrupt the process of production,and cause an accident.This situation,as well as safety hazards and pollution risks in the workplace,may reduce the chance for the new employees or college students to operate the larger equipment of the production line.Therefore,applicaton of a simulation system for the 4300 mm hot-rolled plate production line can resolve the problems due to its friendly-operation,interactive learning,and less unstable factors.In addition,some familiar systems were already used in the market;however,lots of problems are still unresolved including lack of displaying model's details and poor dynamic interaction of models.Hence,developing the simulation system is needed.System simulation technology is the process of using modern computer software and hardware to simulate the production system and the equipment,enhancing the vivid senses,showing the fresh features,and displaying the actual effects.Appling the technology to the metallurgical industry is a distinguishing feature of this systemIn terms of the principles of software requirement analysis,this paper analyzes the process flow of production,as well as the functional and performance requirements of the system.Based on the tasks executed by the four units involving a reheating furnace,a roughing mill,a finishing mill,and an ultra-fast cooling system,the simulation system was designed.Then,all 3d models of the equipment of the production line were created and the process was modularized.At the final phase,all 3d models and modules were integrated by using Unity 3d.The whole idea is gradually refining the system from global to local and totally integrating the parts.This paper includes the basic methods of building 3d models,the implementations of mapping textures of the model,and the researches of multi-resolution hierarchical models and optimization of 3d models.Importing the 3d models created by 3ds Max into the scenes of Unity 3d and stimulating interactions of the models by programming with C# can generate virtual scenes,including hot rolling zone,shear zone,finished area,thick plate area,and other auxiliary production facilities.On the whole,development of simulation system for the 4300 mm hot-rolled plate production line will play a critical role in process operation training for new employees and the college students.
