In the operation of oil and gas pipeline, the main energy loss comes from the frictional resistance. Therefore, the calculation of the friction factor is very important to the design and operation of pipeline. So far,the calculation of the friction factor is mainly based on two kinds of formulae: One of them is the formula summarized from operational or experimental data;the other are the approximate formulae based on Colebrook-White formula. However,The formula improved by operational data always consume lots of resource. These approximate formula can't decrease the error with the real value. So it is necessary to develop an equipment to research the measurement and the calculation of the friction factor. In this paper, the friction factor calculation of gas and fluid was firstly found out.The law between differential pressure and mass flow rate with different diameter pipe was analyzed with Matlab, and the type of pipes and sensor was chosen by the simulation result.Next, all of the approximate formulae were compared with the standard Colebrook-white formula. And two models of formulae were summarized with high accuracy. Then, based on these previous work, the experimental equipment including the process, the part of gas and fluid experiment and the electric control system was finished. The software for the equipment was also developed in this part. Finally,In the context of safety, the scheme of gas and fluid experiment was set out.And some experiment was performed with the scheme. The result of the analysis of the experimental data proved that the equipment and the method of friction factor calculation are effective and trustworthy. The main contribution of this paper is the development of friction factor experimental equipment and the method of calculation friction factor. All these work provides a solid foundation for the further research and engineering application.
