Topology concept plays complicated and obscure role in design of constructionspace. The concepts of deformation and continuity are applied in complex distortedbuildings via computer tools and techniques, and they are embraced in the observersexperience in architectural space. Topology is obscure abstract mathematics focusing ongraph and matrix entropy, but it has indeed gotten rid of shackles from explicitconventional thinking mode popular in Euclidean geometry, and offered the designersdifferent thought frameworks, which is not simple replacement but means reflection onphilosophical aspects of architecture design. This design idea, existing in thinkingprocess of building but not sacrificially floating on form, is the key to promote thetopologization of contemporary architectural design. Moreover, the definition oftopologized design gradually changes with the change of practical architectural spaceforms, and it will become an important part of contemporary cultural trend.According to the application of topology in architectural design from three aspectsof science, philosophy and aesthetics, the basic form, cognitive thinking and senses oftopological deformation are integrated into the multi-level understanding ofcontemporary building space forms in this paper. A lot of actual domestic and foreigncase analysis in recent years is introduced astheoretical foundation, the design strategiesand methods are analyzed in depth. This paper is divided into four chapters. In ChapterOne, the time significance and academic importance of this topic are introduced, and theresearch purpose and prospects of topologized design of contemporary architecturalspace forms are explored based on domestic and foreign latest studies. In Chapter Two,the influence, conditions for maturity and characteristics of topologized architecturalspace form design are discussed from four aspects, including interdisciplinarytheoretical principles, the philosophical background of Gilles Deleuze s fold theory, aesthetic rules of Gestalt principles, and technical support of digital revolution. InChapter Three, space form is decomposed into type, interface and sequence, andaccordingly the design strategies are analyzed from topology view. In Chapter Four, topological spaces are classified into separated, intersected and encompassing varieties, and topologized design techniques of uniform, contrast and hybrid, suture, cutting andexchange, juxtaposition, fusion and circulation are put forward.Through the analysis and summarization of topology design in contemporaryarchitectural forms, this paper explores the development of topological spaces andconcretedesign methods. The theories of various fields and many cases of topologydesign graphs are accessed, and accordingly the influence of topology on architectureideology as well as corresponding cultural meaning and practical design methods are researched from three perspectives, including scientific research, philosophicalapplication and aesthetic psychology.
