As the main material carrier of residents’ activities and interactions, residentialopen space is the most active part of the open space, which shouldering importantmission of riching city lives and improving residents’ quality of life and happiness.Compared with temperate or tropic zone of our country, cold region have a terribleclimate conditions and their residents are lack of public life. Residential open spacesof cold region keep a lower utilization level. The comfort levels of residential openspace, therefore, affects the quantity and frequency of public activities, and creatinga favorable settlements and open space thermal environment become a pressing task.Firstly on the basis of having studied the profiles of residential open spaces ofcold region, this paper carried on the classification to open spaces of cold region,according to different pattern of the open space, and select wall-clamp-yard layoutas our research object, because it has well climate adapt ability and a widedistribution, and has a definite research value. The paper select alternating season asthe research period, and aimed at improving the comfort and utilization efficiency ofresidential open spaces in the alternating season.In this paper, we adopt the method of field test and software simulation, andintroduce the concept of human body comfort as evaluation indexes of evaluatingopen space comfort level. By measuring the micro-climate elements such astemperature, humidity, wind speed, the field test aim at exploring the designelements affecting the comfort level of open space, and learned that the D/H, lengthof East-West residence, entrance position, underlying surface material of the openspace may be the constituent part. At the same time, also the service condition ofthe existing open space have been studied in detail, Summarizes distributioncharacteristics both in time and space of the usage of the cold residential open space.Through software simulation method to establish the quantitative relationshipbetween the comfort level with the design elements, after repeated a large number ofhourly simulation and verification, combination of comfort space distribution andnumerical distribution, the research established the connection between the designelements and open space comfort. And on this basis of this connection, the cold openspace optimization strategy is put forward, including reasonable decorat ing activityarea, carefully choosing entrance position, paying attention to the proportion of openspace, attaches great importance to planar enclosure and corner unit etc.
