Abstract/Summary:
The aging population initially occurred in developed countries. In the eighty’s of last century the problem of aging population was mentioned several times by the United Nations and has become an important issue in the general assembly of the United Nations. China’s sixth population census data in 2010 shows the percentage of China’s population aged 65 and above accounted for 8.87% of the total population. According to the international standard, China’s population age structure has entered the ranks of the aging. Elderly people belong to the disadvantaged in society, has a certain particularity in social activities, also need to focus on social care. The proportion of elderly population in the social population structure is increasing, economic structure, social security system, social services and other aspects will be influenced and put forward new requirements, which requires the community to take appropriate measures to deal with various aspects of the elderly demand. Since China entered the aging society, the government gradually pay attention to the problem of population aging and has studied the related subjects such as the old people’s psychological, physiological, behavioral activities, etc. Research and public service facilities for the elderly population have been gradually carried out.The sixth census of population date shows that 65 years old people in Lanzhou accounts for 8.77% of the whole population, and the population of Lanzhou is aging faster than the population of the whole country. Lanzhou City cut by Yellow River from west to east, both north and south are mountains, the terrain is narrow and the city construction land is intense, result in lack of public green space in Lanzhou. Based on the natural geographical conditions of Lanzhou city and the emphasis on the land space of the two sides of the Yellow River overall past dynasty planning, Along both sides of the Yellow River in Lanzhou city public land gradually play a mainstay role. At present, urban construction land in the green area is scarce in Lanzhou, and most of the park planning focused on both sides of the Yellow River, developed waterfront space into a pattern of zonal green connects to point parks. The majority of Lanzhou people’s daily outdoor activities are concentrated in the Yellow River waterfront space. As Lanzhou entered the aging society, Study on aging problems need to enter the topic. The increase of the elderly population not only increases the burden of young people, but also gives a severe test to all kinds of software and hardware facilities of the society. For the outdoor activities convenience of the elderly and human consideration of the needs of the elderly, it is a key to reduce the negative effect of the aging population,to create a harmonious society and civilized city. As the most important part of the Lanzhou city public activity space, the planning and design of waterfront space need to consider the special needs of the aged people.The content of this paper is under the background of aging of population, through a comprehensive analysis of the elderly, include the elderly psychology sociology, city planning and management, space design and other disciplines, as well as the investigation of the present situation of waterfront space analysis in Lanzhou City, research on the waterfront space planning of the elderly with Lanzhou characteristic. In the aspects of infrastructure, space function division, policy management, and conflict points, it is effective and innovative.
