Since the 1990 s the greenways movement have swept the world and greenway theory introduced into China, the planning and design of greenways have shown the potential to spread across the country. More large-scale constructions are gaining momentum. After nearly a decade of research and practice, with the greenway construction booming it also exposed many problems. The unified model and method to evaluation of urban greenway landscape is not yet formed, so researches about this area could promote the further development of greenways.Based on the above background, this article is based on the Wuhan urban greenway status quo, and referring to the theory of post-occupancy evaluation(POE), following the feelings of users, to evaluate the landscape design of urban greenway. Combined with the results of evaluation and conclusion of participant observation, analyzing the problems, and presenting strategy on optimization schemes of Wuhan urban greenway, so the attraction and construction of urban greenway construction can be improved. This thesis emphasize several contents as below:I Evaluation of Screening is based on summary of existing greenways theory and POE methods. According to the goals of evaluation of urban greenway landscape, referring to the designing content and existed researches,with expert questionnaires, extracting the factors of urban greenways landscape evaluation, and calculating the index weight. the green corridor system, non-motorized transportation system, node design and public service facilities design can be confirmed. Their weights are 0.2722, 0.2584, 0.2375, and 0.2319. This Index system also contains 22 indexes about the evaluation of the utilization of greenways.II Case study. Taking Wuchang urban greenway landscape as an example, it was evaluated by using the urban greenway landscape evaluation model. And the green corridor system, non-motorized transportation system, node design and public service facilities are chosen as four evaluation criterion about usage. By analyzing 180 survey results from the Sahu Park, the Plaza under Yangtze River Bridge, the Redianchang garden, the Fangzhichang garden and the Bailu Street, the evaluation results and index score have been got. No matter the designing requirements of vegetation patterns, vegetation diversity, entrance design, combination of non-motorized transportation, road-oriented, historical and cultural atmosphere, relay and sports facilities are, datum show that users are unaffected by the geographical location traffic situation and space capabilities of the greenways. The comprehensive evaluation score is 3.9051, this appraisal result belongs to S2 Level. That is to say, Wuhan’s landscape designing is reasonable.III Optimizing strategy: According to the evaluation results, and problems about the usage of landscape designing, by analyzing the reasons of the evaluation results and the composition of index system,four optimizing strategies about the green corridor system, non-motorized transportation system, node design and public service facilities would be proposed.References for future urban greenway landscape designing could be provided.
