The greenway is a kind of public goods which has ecological, environmental, andsocial value. And it can improve the ecological environment of the urban landscape, provide a place of leisure and recreation, protect the historical and cultural resources, andso on.90s of last century, many countries around the world had been carrying out planningand practice about the greenway, forming the climax of the Greenway movementworldwide. During the same period, the greenway was introduced into China. Afterresearch accumulation more than ten years, the greenway network planning began tospring up in more economically developed areas of the southeast of China, showing atendency to spread across the country. While the greenway network is developingvigorously, many city greenway network project starts hastily. However, there are manyfactors which restrict the greenway development. For example, the technology of thegreenway planning is imperfect, the laws and regulations system is not strong, the publicparticipated is insufficient, the financing channels are blocked, and so on.There existsmany problems. On the other hand, due to the absence of the feedback mechanism of thegreenway network construction, these problems do not get resolved in a timely, leading tothe ecological benefits of the greenway network landscape and the value of social functionis greatly reduced. The greenway network planning and construction need to establish aset of evaluation indicators systems as soon as quickly.Based on the above background, through the discussion about the development of thedomestic and foreign greenway, the evolution of the greenway function in differentperiods is summarized. Combining the methods of greenway network analysis andevaluation at home and abroad, and the summary of " the evaluation index systems of EUgreen space ","the evaluation index systems of the Village Green Road","the evaluationindex systems of the corridor "and "the evaluation index systems of urban green spacesystem ",a evaluation index system of urban greenways network planning is built forurban greenway network planning and evaluation. The evaluation index system is basedon the landscape ecology, urban leisure and recreation theory and systems theory andconsists of three aspects those are landscape ecology, social functions, and planning security. It fills the blank of the urban greenway network evaluation, providing thetechnical support for building the urban greenways network planning feedbackmechanisms.Through the methods of frequency statistics theoretical analysis and expertconsultation,21indicator is chosen as the urban greenway network planning andevaluation indicator at last. And through the analytic hierarchy process(AHP) to bestowweighing for the indicator, the urban greenway network planning evaluation model isformed.Take the Wuhan City greenway network planning for example, it was evaluated byusing the greenway network evaluation model. Among21indicators,5items isⅠlevel,7items is II level,7items is III level,2items is IV level. The comprehensive evaluationscore is0.5667. According to the classification standards of composite index four level, this appraisal result belongs toⅡLevel. That is to say, Wuhan City greenway networkplanning is more reasonable.Through the analysis of the results of the Wuhan City greenway network planningand evaluation, in particular two items which are IV level and seven items which are IIIlevel, it is pointed out that the main problem of the greenway network planning is that thegreenway network structure index is not high, the network structure need to be adjusted;security system is weak and the public participation is not perfect. In order to solve thoseproblems, some optimization schemes and countermeasures of Wuhan City greenwaynetwork planning are put forward.
