The atmospheric temperature simulation system is an important device in HILS of aircraft, providing temperature signal to imitate the flight altitude and mach. With the rapid development of aircraft HILS, higher temperature and better dynamic are required. The total temperature change of aircraft in different flight conditions are analyzed in this article. To meet higher temperature and better dynamic requirements of the atmospheric temperature simulation system, we put forward the high temperature plasma as heat source, by mixing the high and low temperature gas to imitate the atmospheric temperature.Firstly, several existing gas heating methods are compared and choose the high temperature plasma as heat source. The feature of the arc heater is discussed, and then we analyzed the difficulties in the process of mixing high temperature plasma. In the paper, a double-layer structure gas chamber is designed to mix different temperature gas and prevent heat loss.Secondly, we use a method to calculate the basic parameters at the plasma gun nozzle exit. Then FLUENT was adopted to research the temperature filed of the high temperature gas mixing in the chamber. In this paper, we analyzed and verified the way use high temperature plasma as heat source and mixing the high and low temperature gas to imitate the atmospheric temperature was feasible. The result showed that adjusting low temperature gas flow from 30L/min to 120L/min can achieve imitating the atmospheric temperature 900K~1400K.Finally, an experiment device was designed and established. The computer operate software was also programmed. The experimental research of atmospheric temperature simulation was implemented. For different low temperature gas flow condition, we did some experiment and measured the temperature at the outlet. The results verify atmospheric temperature simulator can achieve expected temperature goals. According to the experiment results, it has minimal deviation with simulation. But the effect trend of various parameters on the mixed gas temperature is the same.The researches lay a foundation for further development on the high temperature atmospheric simulation system.
