Study On The Barrier-free Pedestrian System Of City Transportation In An Aging Society

Our country is becoming a community which has more and more senior citizens. Owing to debility on physiology and psychology, descension on social class of senior citizens, there will be some change on traffic characteristic and traffic demand of them. So it is necessary to realize barrier-free of pedestrian system for senior citizens.This paper introduces present situation of pedestrian system and the research on this topic. Then traffic behavior and traffic demand on senior citizens is summarized, through analyzing the identities of physiology, psychology, traffic accident characteristic and society on senior citizens. Through analysis data obtained from the questionnaires of the Xi'an senior citizens, it is demonstrated the relativity of individual identity and traffic characteristic of senior citizens by difference test. Meanwhile it is discovered the present problem of the pedestrian system. Based on cognitive psychology and ergonomics theories, this paper puts forward the principle and goal of pedestrian system design for older-society, and proposes design methods about the difficult place to the senior citizen. At last, on the base of the integrant parts of older-society pedestrian system, the thesis sets up the evaluation index system and discusses the science assessment method.This thesis offers the theoretical foundation for the design and improvement of pedestrian system.
