With the rapid economy development in China, the fast district heating development has become the main heating method, and large-scale heating pipeline has been constructed in urban area which improves people's quality of life. On the other hand, the rapid expansion of the heating pipeline leads to a lot of problems, especially frequent accidents caused by district heating pipeline in recent years, and pipeline safety has been widely concerned by community.In this paper, it is presented that the safety assessment of district heating pipeline through heating method development and pipeline safety assessment, and the risk assessment is also introduced. Consider the accident cases in recent years, the risk factors for district heating pipeline safety are identified, mainly from eight aspects: the design rationality, the construction quality, the pipeline corrosion, the pipeline water attack, the pipeline fatigue, the processing operation, the equipment lifetime and the environmental factor. The risk factors are analyzed by Analytic Hierarchy Process, and use MATLAB software to calculate the weighted value of risk factors, and establish the risk assessment model of district heating pipeline by actual pipeline research and document analysis. This model is based on hierarchical analysis results, Kent pipeline risk assessment method and characteristics of district heating pipeline, to provide the principle of risk assessment. In this paper, the methods of subjective evaluation and accident statistics are used to establish the safety assessment method, and which is for simple understanding, convenient operation and practicability.Through the practical application in the actual pipeline work, it is proved that the accuracy of the evaluation method can be accepted and it has the possibility of practical application, which could be the inspiration and reference for domestic market.
