With the rapid development of civil aviation industry of China, the amount of the airports and fleets all over the country is increasing. Because of the territory, complicated terrain and large temperature difference between the southern and northern China, especially the seasonal variations in the north China, there has been extreme weather below -30? in part of the northern China. Due to the fact that the elevation there is not so high, the actual temperature is lower than the ISA, leading to the variations of the atmosphere model. When operated in the extremely low temperature, the actual altitude is lower than the one indicated in the altimeter, resulting to the lower safety margin. In this condition, flight actual altitude of the aircraft will be below indicative altitude of altimeter, so the safety margin will be reduced.But the flight safe hidden trouble of low temperature often neglected, because the accidents caused by low temperature is less. There are some reasons like:1.in recent years, the winter temperature is not very low,2.the flight in the northern cold region is less, and the lowest temperature generally appears before and after sunrise or early in the morning, so the flight is much less,3.the flight procedures are designed with large safe margin. But flight safety can't take chances, if strong cold air strikes, safety margin can greatly reduce, even with fatal safety risks.This article will solve the civil aviation flight safety problem in China at low temperature as starting point, then collect existing low temperature correction methods in the domestic and overseas and analyze the mode of low temperature correction. Simultaneously, using the simulator and aircraft test low temperature RNP APCH procedure that is designed for the low temperature airport to solve problems in actual flight. There are three methods in the domestic and overseas:low temperature correction chart, correction by FMC and correction by flight procedures. This article will strive to solve these problems that reduce the workload of pilots and ATC and also make the safety of flight at low temperature.
