Digital Simulation And Application Of Dredging Process Of Cutter Suction Dredger

Cutter section dredger is taking a large proportion in dredging vessels in recent years. The construction process of a cutter section dredger is complicated, which is affected by many factors, such as weather, hydrological and soil conditions. It is difficult to obtain a reasonable scheme of the construction schedule through traditional calculation methods. Based on the computer simulation technology, the digital simulation of the dredging process of cutter section dredgers was analyzed and applied to an actual project in the paper. The main research contents and achievements are summarized as follows:(1) The construction characteristics of cutter suction dredger was described systematically, and critical risk factors in the dredging process were identified and quantified. Then, the dredging productivity is determined quantitatively. The simulation model of the dredging process of cutter suction dredger was built using the hierarchical modeling method, which can present the construction process comprehensively.(2) By integrating the 2D digital graphics of engineering construction with the corresponding construction information during the whole process, a dynamic demonstration of the dredging process of cutter suction dredger was carried out. It represented the logical time-space relationships and described the complicated dredging process visually. It can offer an effective measure to analyze and verify the simulation results of the dredging process of cutter suction dredger.(3) According to the construction characteristics of cutter section dredger, the digital simulation program for the dredging process of cutter suction dredger was developed by using simulation system and cycling network technique. The program was applied to the actual pier foundation trench and basin dredging project, and helped engineers decide more scientific construction scheme of cutter suction dredger.
