Research And Comparison Of The Stone Art Of Suzhou Lion Forest And Japanese Karesansui

Suzhou Lion Forest Garden and Japanese Karesansui gardens both belongs to the oriental gardening style,with unique formations artistic charm.Although they are the representatives of Chinese and Japanese classical gardens,from different country and culture background,but they are still highly linked.In the long history of cultural exchanges between China and Japan,the Japanese art of classical stone gardens were heavily influenced by Chinese classical gardens.After Heian period,China started to reform to its new gardening style of Ming and Qing;meanwhile,Japan was committed to follow the ancient formations of creating practices,and integration on the basis of the formation of a new cultural and national spirit landscape,which is known as traditional Japanese Karesansui.The similarities of these two gardening styles,have attracted the attention and consideration of the author.Thus,the infiltrated social and historical background of these two gardening styles,the hidden cultural connotations,the reflected formations and creative methods,the similarities and differences in these areas,as well as factors causing these differences and similarities are all the objects of this paper.This paper consists of five parts.The first part of these two representatives from Suzhou Lion Forest Garden elaborate Japanese Karesansui and historical changes and landscape characteristics,respectively,in order to summarize the characteristics of each other and the blending in the historical process.The second and third parts compares and contrasts the specific culture and artistic accomplishments in these two gardening styles,as well as the aesthetic approach of the creation of garden stone scene.The fourth part is based on the comparative analysis of the previous chapters,from a macro perspective to explore Lion Forest and Karesansui rock formations differences in prospective of art;under the influence of different factors of the natural environment,socio-cultural and aesthetic concepts and other factors in the formation of difference.Through a comparative study of Suzhou Lion Forest and Japanese Karesansui,the author has fully experienced the unique charm of Chinese and Japanese art of stone garden,enhanced the understanding of stone art in China and Japan,which provides a realistic reference for the study of the art of stone garden.
