| With the development of technology and society, China has maintained a sound momentum of economic growth. There is an increasing demand for the electricity market every year. As key devices for power transmission, power cables have been more and more widely used. Many cities in china have gradually transformed overhead transmission lines into underground power cable transmission and distribution lines. However, some classes of cable faults occur frequently due to the fact that power cables are mostly buried underground, which are affected by the construction quality and the surrounding environment. As a result, it is of vital importance to analyze cable faults accurately and take countermeasures to deal with them. The dissertation analyzes common cable faults up to 35kV in Dalian, points out causes of these failures and puts forwards solutions by analyses and scientific experiments. Firstly, it contains the background and significance of the research, the advantages and disadvantages of cables, the structure and fault property of the cross-linked polyethylene cable. Secondly, with lots of pictures and charts, it analyzes typical cable faults, especially focusing on those of heat burns, installation problems and faults from external force. Thirdly, considering environment temperature and humidity, time of measurement, cables as well as instrumentation, it expounds the impacts on cable properties in different experiment environments and studies the change rules of cable properties. Finally, based on relevant influence rules the dissertation covers the solutions to avoid cable faults from different angles and aspects. With the research in the dissertation, it is of great realistic significance to ensure a safe and stable operation of power grids, provide sufficient and stable power for the vast majority of users, and avoid power losses. |
