The modeling and design of auto body part are crucial processes of vehicle manufacture, which need many technicians and roles to collaborate on complex workflow. Current situation of popular CAD and CAE software lacking of enough support for collaborative architecture and functions leads to constrains of auto body part design efficiency. Correlative research does not have better solution to the difficulties of collaborative architecture deployment and extension. Potential of user fine-grained operations on conflict resolution and innovation is ignored. Also, further research on multi-level collaborative parallel calculation and CAD/CAE process integration is needed.In order to increase proportion of collaborative work to optimize design process and to shorten design cycles so that increase automotive enterprises' competitiveness, a collaborative CAD/CAE conflict resolution and innovation method based on historical operation tree, and a collaborative CAD/CAE distributed parallel, cloud computing method based on threshold policy are presented in this paper. Furthermore, the paper designs and implements an auto body part CAD/CAE collaborative architecture using COMX development platform and NX Open technology. Design and calculation examples are shown to validate the feasibility of the architecture. The work carried out in this paper is as follows.Related research of CAD/CAE collaborative architecture are reviewed and analyzed. Collaborative mode, network communication, real-time performance and scalability are primarily focused on. On this basis, the paper presents a collaborative work method using historical operation tree formed by recording user's fine-grained API operations and Boolean operation of API function's operation set to manage multi-user design history, resolve conflict and provide innovation in collaborative design. Meanwhile, by calculating server load rate with maximum task queue length and current task queue length, a collaborative distributed parallel cloud computing method is presented aiming to guide task allocation.COMX is adopted as development platform for collaborative architecture in this paper. Based on the structure feature of "micro kernel and plug-in", formatting and scripting language programming environment is used on UI design. Instruction stream with packaging API function combined with Socket.IO engine and WebSocket protocol is used to implement message response and data transmission. With the methods above, lightweight and easy to deploy server and client of collaborative architecture are designed and implemented.By using Siemens NX Open API and Block UI Styler provided by NX software, NX collaborative application is designed and implemented. CAD/CAE software and collaborative architecture are connected by JavsScript parsing and program call methods. The results of car door hinge collaborative design example as well as allocation and calculation of parameter optimization, static and dynamic solving tasks shows the feasibility of multi-user real time collaborative design and parallel cloud computing methods.
