In recent years, with the rise of domestic high-speed rail, rail network communication technology has been developed rapidly. With its characteristics of fast data transmission, good equipment compatibility, etc., Ethernet has been widely applied in train network communication, which has become an inevitable trend. This makes it significantly important to study the train communication network with high speed and large capacity and the ability to meet the hardware real-time performance.Based on the full study of locomotive Ethernet Train Backbone (ETB) and Ethernet Consist Network (ECN), this paper uses the Switched Ethernet technology and develops real-time Ethernet switching equipment. Through the Train Communication Network (TCN) topology structure and the optimization of communication protocol stack, it develops a train communication network based on Switched Ethernet system, of which the advantages of high reliability, determinacy and real-time performance enable it to meet the demand of locomotive data transmission.This paper firstly describes the overall scheme design of locomotive network switch hardware and the selection of main components, as well as illustrates the working principle of main hardware module, and thus develops a model of data exchange equipment which is suitable for locomotive Ethernet communication. Secondly, based on TCN communication protocol stack, ETB and ECN are put forward from a software communication protocol stack, communication scheduling mechanism of vehicle control layer and backbone is developed, and furthermore, Train Real-time Data Protocol (TRDP) communication protocol stack is designed. Finally, it describes the related functional, performance and stability tests which have been carried out on the hardware of Ethernet switching equipment.In the end of this paper, it summarizes the design of the switch, and verifies that the train communication network based on Switched Ethernet can satisfy the demands of train network in terms of reliability, real-time, determinacy.
