Development progress of modern urban is mainly restricted by traffic condition.Extension direction of arterial traffic is the prior direction of cities extension and the final extension direction determines the outline of cities.Main influence factor on arterial traffic is landform.Although Dalian has low altitude,the terrain is rugged.Dalian has various landform,hill and mountains regions are the main pattern of landform.Therefore,the research of the influence of terrain factor on urban human settlement evaluation has realistic meaning.This paper selects 200 plots in Dalian city.Through SFUN website et al.,field visit and questionnaire,the basis data of those plots is collected.Using PC A and clustering analysis in SPSS,the objective evaluation of human settlement in those plots is obtained.Then subjective human settlement classify is obtained by spatial difference model on human settlement.Combining the two methods,the human settlement in Dalian is evaluated from the aspect of terrain change.Linear regression analysis between plots score and plots altitude is completed.The results show that from both objective and subjective aspects,plots score has significant correlation with plots altitude,namely terrain change has influence on human settlement quality in Dalian.Plots pattern distribution diagram obtained by subjective and objective method are similar.Plots with high score of human settlement locate in flat site.Plots with middle score of human settlement have two types.Type I plots locate in flat site with convenient traffic and complete supporting facility,but the design is not good.Type Ⅱ plots locate in rolling terrain regions,whose project and design is better,providing comfortable inhabitation.Plots with low score of human settlement almost locate in highly rolling regions.The influence of terrain on human settlement in Dalian shows in four aspects.The first one is plot scale.Large scale plot and high-rise plot mainly locate in flat site.The second factor is the distribution of education and medical institutions.Because of the special demand,these institutions locate in flat site too.The third factor is traffic.Traffic route in rolling regions is narrow with steep slope and more crooked road.So there is less bus station,which is bad for going out.The fourth is basic configuration.Parking space in rolling regions is less than in plat site.From the point of the influence of terrain on human settlement,this paper puts forward suggestion from the aspects of education and medical institutions construction,traffic route design and plot project.When school and medical institutions construct in rolling regions,we could change the terrain artificially in part of areas.In that case,saving manpower and material resources and meeting the demand of education and medical institutions are both realized.Building tunnels or viaducts may help avoid the impact of terrain.Constructing the plots in rolling regions should pay attention of terrain.We should try to combine natural factors and cultural environment,change disadvantage into advantage.
