Application fields of IEC61850 has been extended from the substation automatic system to other areas of the smart grid, including public utilities, e.g. distribution automation, distributed energy resource. Currently there are many distribution network manufacturers, many different equipment types, many communication modes and multi-protocol, which bring difficulties in IEC61850 application, such as poor distribution terminal device interoperability, high cost of the building maintenance. In order to solve this problem, international standards are introduced. IEC61850 is widely used in the substations, and the second edition is being extended to the distribution automation systems and the related work has atracted more attention by the experts in this field, where complex function modeling of distribution automation is an important component.This thesis developed research on complex function modeling of distribution automation based IEC61850. The works are as follows:(1) After consulting literature materials and case studies, this paper analyzed and summed the status of distribution automation system, described the complex functions involved in the applications of distribution automation system, finished typical case analysis.(2) Based on the functional requirement analysis of distribution automation system, using IEC61850 standard modeling ideas and principles, this paper finished IEC61850 information modelings for small current grounding line selection system, photovoltaic power station monitoring and islanding protection, whole sets of switch equipment condition monitoring system, given information interaction process of each function and the deployment.The main logical nodes used in each case are described in detail.(3) For the complex function based on IEC61850 distribution automation work, this paper gave the implementation scheme,as instance deployment, configuration and testing. And based on the example of small current grounding line selection system, this paper dicussed the differences between CIM and IEC61850 models, briefly presented the CIM and IEC61850 harmonization steps in distribution automation system.The work presented in this thesis can be a reference for promoting IEC61850 application in power distribution automation.
