Data center is a large scale and high density integrated electronic devices system. With the development of modern science and technology, its total heat load and heat flux density sharp increase and air conditioning equipment as one of the most important supporting subsystem, which annual energy consumption round to 40% of the total data center energy consumption. Therefore, reducing the energy consumption of the air conditioner has become one of the key energy-saving emission reduction. The air conditioning equipment based on natural cold source utilization can effectively reduce data center energy consumption of air conditioning system, and heat pipe composite systems and double cold source system as two typical representative of it are widely used in the areas of data center air conditioning, how to evaluate their specific energy saving effect and the economy become the important problems of its application. Based on this, the main contents of this paper are as follows:(1) Accessed to a large amount of domestic and international materials about data center air conditioning system on the research and application, and the working principle of two kinds of data center air conditioning and their effect on energy saving were research and analysis, meanwhile laying the foundation for the data center air conditioning system energy saving effect and techno-economic analysis;(2) Three kinds of data center air conditioning system operating characteristics are researched, compared the operation principle of the compatible operation type and sharing-time type air conditioning system and analysis of natural cold source used for the annual operating energy consumption of them. Compared with sharing-time type air conditioning system, compatible operation type air conditioning system can be more fully the natural cold source, and the compressor running time further reduce, therefore the energy consumption of air-conditioning system can be more energy saving;(3) Based on the selection and energy saving design of data center air conditioning system, air cooling direct evaporative system?air cooling double-cold-source chiller and composite refrigeration system with heat pipe were selected as research object and establish a model of 1 a data center air conditioning energy consumption analysis model for the three types of systems;(4) On the basis of meteorological data of four cities in Harbin?Beijing?Shanghai and Guangzhou provided by DEST, calculated and analyzed the annual energy efficiency ratio (AEER) and annual energy consumption of the three types of air-conditions with the same air conditioning load and return air parameters. The results showed that the AEER of these three systems increase along with the decrease of the average temperature from south to north. As a result, the AEER of them are 4.07?4.45?4.00?6.84 and 4.27?8.20. Comparing the composite heat pipe refrigeration system with air cooling direct evaporative system and air cooling double-cold-source chiller, the energy saving rate of the heat pipe is 4.8%?46% and 6.4%?16.6% respectively;(5)Using techno-economic evaluation method, calculated the dynamic data center national cost of the three types of air-cooled air-conditions in Guangzhou?Shanghai? Beijing and Harbin, four typical city year. Comparing the composite heat pipe refrigeration system with air cooling direct evaporative system and air cooling double-cold-source chiller, composite refrigeration system has the lowest annual cost,the cost saving rate of the heat pipe is 2.5%?34.3% and 6.6%?13.5% respectively.
