Automotive industry is a strong industry of national economic development. It makes great contributions to economic development and social progress, while it also leads to energy shortage and environmental degradation. Compared to conventional vehicles, electric vehicles have the characteristics of low carbon and environmental protection, which will have a profound impact on the future sustainable development of human society. It is significant to promote electric vehicles and carry out study on their charging infrastructure and services. Liaoning electric power company vigorously promotes the use of electric buses in Dalian and builds battery swapping and charging station to form a reasonable electrical charging service network. The author participated in the design and construction work of battery swapping and charging station in Dalian Friendship Street. In the meantime, the research about electrical system design of electric vehicle battery swapping and charging station was carried out based on the design requirements of Friendship Street station.Friendship Street provides power for the electric buses, so the "swapping battery in the station - distributed charging battery" mode was adopted. When electric buses required electrical energy supplement, it entered into the battery station. The rechargeable batteries in the buses were unloaded, after which, the fully charged batteries on the battery holder would be replaced. Then the vehicle continued to operate with the fully charged battery. Later, the recharged batteries on the battery holder were charged by the chargers for next usage. Around this swapping battery mode, the specific design work of battery swapping and charging scheme were launched. The basic principles of battery chargers, the composition of battery swapping system and its swapping flow were studied. This paper made design of power supply and distribution system of Friendship Street. Based on the power capacity requirements of the station, appropriate electrical equipment for high voltage and low voltage distribution system were selected. Photovoltaic energy storage system design was introduced in power supply system, to achieve the diversification of energy sources. Finally, the design of station monitoring system was conducted, establishing a system to monitor the battery swapping and charging condition of the whole station.
