Switched reluctance motor has simple structure, low manufacture cost, small rotation inertia and high efficiency. Based on these advantages, it has been widely used in industrial control, home appliances, electric vehicles and power generation. But due to its special doubly salient structure, the magnetic chain of SRM can easily achieve high degree of saturation and the electromagnetic torque is a composite nonlinear function of the stator winding current and the rotor position angle. The reason made the traditional linear control methods such as traditional PID control was difficult to decrease the torque ripple, noise, and speed fluctuation. To research the new type of control algorithm has become very important.Compared with the traditional analog control system, the digital control system is more efficient and stable, also, it has simple hardware circuit and strong anti-jamming capability. This paper applied the digital control system to SRD system which required the high speed of operation and data processing, high precision signal acquisition and high stability. Also, there is a peripheral module of TMS320F2812 exclusively designed for motor control which greatly improved the efficiency of SRD system.As a kind of the intelligent control algorithm, Fuzzy control algorithm combined the traditional rule-based expert system, fuzzy set theory and control theory. For a complex nonlinear system, fuzzy logic control did not need to establish a precise mathematical model of it, and the fuzzy controller is a nonlinear controller itself. Applying the FLC to the speed control of SRD system can make the system has strong robustness and strong adaptability to the change of system parameters. Because of its good control effect, it has become a hotspot in the study on the method of SRM speed control.Firstly, this paper studied the development history and research status of SRM, introduces the basic operation principle of switched reluctance motor and control strategy. Then we deduced a mathematical model for SRM, studied the traditional PID control and fuzzy PID control method, and set up a simulation model system under MATLAB/Simulink, verified that the fuzzy PID is superior to traditional PID in the speed control of SRM. Finally we set the experiment platform of the SRD speed control system based on DSP TMS320F2812,designed the software of the system, realized the speed control of SRM with traditional PID and fuzzy PID control, verified the correctness of the theoretical analysis and simulation by the experiments and laid a solid foundation for further study.
