With the development of computer technology, equipment industry is undergoing a reform. The powerful processing and display capabilities of computer system have enhanced the performance of equipment in data collection, analysis and expression. The virtual instrument as the representative new equipment is changing the traditional instruments, it takes full advantage of computer hardware and software resources. The computer technology and measurement technology have organically integrated. It integrates the electronic measurement, signal processing and computer and network technology in the new instrument. Because of its low cost, easy to use, and many other advantages, it has been widely recognized and applied.Virtual instrument is composed by the hardware circuit of data acquisition, computer, application software, and a communication interface mode. The external input signal acquisition is completed by the hardware circuit of data acquisition system, and then the acquired data is transmitted via a communication interface to the computer software. At last, the display of the measured signal data and the relevant performance parameters is implemented by Lab VIEW other language programming. The thesis describes the design of slave computer hardware circuit design and master computer application software of virtual oscilloscope. The virtual oscilloscope can be divided into two main parts: the slave computer hardware circuit and the master computer data processing software, the slave computer hardware circuit mainly accomplish the data acquisition and transmission, the host computer software mainly realizes the data processing. Hardware circuit of instrument in coordination with PC application software not only virtual oscilloscope can be achieved the traditional oscilloscope functions, but also can implement other new functions such as spectrum analysis, waveform storage function. So the virtual oscilloscope has greater practical significance in research, teaching and work. The main discussion of virtual oscilloscope are the instrument hardware circuit design including signal conditioning, analog-to-digital conversion circuit, SOPC control circuit of based on FPGA, USB communication which is called the bridge of connect the computer and data acquisition system and the introduction and description of the PC software's human computer interaction interface, basic operation and some functions of application software.
