Research On Visual Wooden Decorations Of Traditional Buildings In Sunan

As the center of East Asian culture, China has an unique traditional culture. Due to its vast territory, different regions in china has different geography, social and economy patterns, which created varied cultures.Sunan is located in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and it is also the heart of the Yangtze River Delta region. Sunan has rich vegetation and farming resources, thus it was the richest region in Chinese history and gave birth to a splendid regional culture which is priceless and still has a profound impact on nearby areas.This paper begins with the analysis of Sunan traditional architectural wooden decorative materials. A detailed investigation of these material has been carried out in the research process which collected represented patterns and cultural background.This paper has seven chapters. The first chapter introduced the research background, research purpose, research significance, domestic and international relevant research and the framework of this paper. The second chapter demonstrated the history of Sunan traditional architecture. The third chapter conduced traditional social culture of Sunan and analyzed the culture background of traditional architecture in this area; the following three chapters concludes the characteristic of Sunan traditional architectural wooden decoration. The last chapter is the conclusion of this paper.The aim of this paper is to achieve a better understanding of Sunnan traditional architectural culture, and apply this unique culture into contemporary architecture practice.
