The Function Of Landscape Architecture In Public Ecological Education And Its Realization

Ecological education is the education which spreads ecological knowledge,ecological culture,ecological protection skills to people and enhances their ecological awareness and ethics to shape the ecological civilization.Landscape architecture is the beautiful outdoor living environment created by human which coordinates the relationship between human and nature as the core,and also the vital material carrier to promote public ecological education.It is important for landscape architecture as well as for ecological education,to research the function of landscape architecture in public ecological education and its realization.Based on theoretical research and practice in domestic and foreign countries,this thesis analyzes the practice and experience of ecological education in landscape architecture in the United States,Europe,Japan,Hong Kong and Taiwan.It summarizes the present situation of mainland China in this field through the construction of National Ecological Civilization Education Base and National Environmental Education Social Practice Base for Primary and Secondary School Students.Meanwhile,this thesis researches some typical practical cases(Endemic Species Research Institute,Taipei Guandu Nature Park,Environmental Park of Suzhou River Mengqing Garden),and sums up the construction experience through literature review,field survey,interviews and other methods.This thesis emphatically analyzes the subject,content,resources and activities of ecological education implemented by landscape architecture,further summarizes the role of landscape architecture playing in the public ecological education.It proposes that landscape architecture is the preserver of ecological education resources who could protect the nature resources and historical heritages.Landscape architecture is the provider of ecological education space who could provide space and environment for ecological education activities.Landscape architecture is the organizer of ecological education activities who could organize various activities for visitors.Landscape architecture is the promoter of local ecological education who could combine ecological education with local natural environment and social.Finally this thesis puts forward a series of methods about how to realize the function of landscape architecture in ecological education from two stages as planning and design and future management.It provides the theoretical basis for the extension work of public ecological education by landscape architecture in China.In the stage of planning and design,the character of landscape architecture could be confirmed by planning.The resources and content of ecological education could be exhibited by design.In the stage of future management,public ecological education could be practiced by theme activities and generalized by media,publications and related products.
