Mobile chain bucket ship unloading machine has played a more and more important role in being used as unloading equipment in the port. With the development of chain bucket ship unloading machine and its merits in structural design, it has been widely used by big and specialized ports at home and abroad. At present, the bigger size of ship structure results in the bigger size of chain bucket ship unloading machine, what's more it's quite complicated structure caused more complex stress distribution. To solve this problem, based on analyzing the strength and stiffness of the ship unloading machine, this article provides designers with the stress and strain distribution of each structure and important data for improving design quality and maintenance.With the help of Finite Element Analysis function of Hyper Mesh and ANSYS,this article analyzed the structure of mobile chain bucket ship unloading machine which has the capacity of 300t/h. Finite Element Modeling of the ship unloading machine is achieved by “simplification” function of HyperMesh and “Assembly Technology” function of ANSYS, and its Finite Element Analysis was made by combining the two software.This article obtained the maximum stress and the local stress concentration position in the steel structure of ship unloading machine, and modified the local stress situation from the maximum stress to the majority of stress value, which meets the yield strength. Besides, the article analyzed the anti-overturning force, and got the overturning state under different working conditions, the analyzing results show that it will not overturn until under unloading suddenly. In terms of model analysis, the initial fifth order natural frequency and vibration mode are inputted into ANSYS, the minimum natural frequency is 0.73625 HZ, it shows that resonance would not occur after comparing the rotating speed of different mechanisms, and this will help the designers with the later analysis.According to the above results, stress and strain distribution and the overturning condition are obtained for the ship unloading machine under different working conditions. On the one hand, the results can provide the designers with the reliablebasis for later structural improvements, on the other hand, these can be helpful to the relevant workers for the targeted maintenance of its steel structure. In a word, it greatly reduces the production costs and gains the maximum benefit for equipments,it's also meaningful to the safe use of ship unloading machine.
