Driver Assistance System (DAS) was originally derived from military requirements. At present, the infrared assisted driving system is widely used in military. Due to the infrared thermal imager installation position is fixed, the driver needs to turn the head to watch the infrared image on the screen. Because of the observing way and perspective shortcomings of traditional infrared driver assistance system, this paper focus on the research and design of the servo type infrared driver assistance system.First of all, the servo control system is analyzed, secondly the plan of the servo type infrared driver assistance system which comprises of binocular lenses, central control box and infrared turntable is designed.Besides, the type of the key components of the system are selected. After that, the position closed-loop module with TMS320F2812,the communication module,the position detection unit,power driver module hardware circuit are designed. Finally, the construction of the control platform is completed.According to the composition and control principle of servo system, the control strategy and the mathematical simulation model of servo control system are analyzed.Control stimulation was conducted to servo system by using MATLAB simulation.Digital PID control algorithm and the PID control algorithm based on BP neural network were used for control simulation to the servo system. In the environment of different control signals, analysis and comparison of the dynamic response curve and the static error curve were made. The superiority of PID control algorithm based on BP neural network has been verified.Based on the CCS3.3 software development environment, the software of the servo control system is designed with the idea of modular programming. After that, the debugging experiment is connducted.The driver rotate the head by wearing the binocular lenses, the infrared turntable can complete the servo tracking which has a good tracking effec.In the driving experiment which on the condition of the darkness, the servo type infrared driver assistance system can effectively extend the driving vision and play a key role in auxiliary driving.
