Switched reluctance motor (SRM) has many advantages, required small starting current, excellent performance of speed adjustment and has higher efficiency in a wide range of speed and many controllable parameters, and the structure is simple and reliable to maintain the stability in the harsh environment. But the nonlinear characteristics of the motor is strong, the torque ripple is intense during running under conventional control methods, alone with loud noise. These restricts its wide application. In recent years, switch reluctance motor control and torque ripple minimization and noise suppression has become one of the research focus in the field of electric drive control.Firstly, this paper expounds the research background and research status at home and abroad of the topic. The basic principle and mathematical model of SRM is analyzed.On this basis, according to the torque ripple, noise, efficiency index,the comparative analysis of the operation of common control strategies has been done,then a set of switched reluctance motor control strategy was given, including phase soft start strategy of startup stage, accelerating strategy, deceleration and regenerative braking strategy of stop stage, torque ripple and noise suppression strategy of the normal electric operation stage, the driving system fault detection and protection strategy.Secondly, the simulation model of switched reluctance drive (SRD) was constructed in the Matlab/Simulink environment. To verify the feasibility of the proposed control method of the stage, the main control method has been simulated, and compared with the common control methods, the principle of selecting control parameters has been discussed.After that, this paper gives a design scheme of SRD control system, including the hardware and software framework design on the basic of STM32 platform, and the fault detection and processing method by means of software.Finally, physical experiment were done on a 1.5kW three-phase 12/8 prototype, the operation waveform of current, position, speed, torque, etc, was compared and analyzed for each operation stage, which verify the feasibility of the SRD system design scheme.
