Compared with the common high-rise buildings, large complex statue structure always has extremely irregular shape, due to the uneven distribution of mass and stiffness, which leads to disadvantage of the seismic response of the structure. In this paper, research is made, which is on seismic performance of statue structure with 25 meters long cantilever,as the actual project background of Liu Bang statue.To explore the response laws of the large cantilever statue with the dynamic action of earthquake. The simplified model is built to perform dynamic elastic-plastic analysis in conditions of horizontal seismic and vertical seismic respectively. Finally the analysis of seismic response and mechanical characteristics of this kind of structure is made combined with the engineering project. At last design suggestions of the large cantilever statue structure will be put forward.Through the analysis and research of this article, conclusions have been made as follows:(1) Torsion mode is always one of the main mode of large cantilever statue, under the earthquake action with one direction, the performance of structure vibration is spatial vibration, serious couple effect in all directions occur in the vibration.(2) Under the vertical seismic action of large cantilever statue structure, length and height of cantilever prove to be the main factors which have impact on displacement, internal force and plastic performance.(3) In research, torsion effects are related to length of cantilever and torsional stiffness.(4) Compared with the one direction seismic action of the structure, the response of displacement and internal force of structure increase significantly when the earthquake action is three directions. In spite of the same peak acceleration of different earthquake waves, the structural response is entirely different. As a consequence, more waves should be selected in time-history analysis of this kind structure for comparison of results.(5) The weak parts of the large cantilever statue structure always distribute in the root segment of cantilever, corner column of main body and mutation place of the plane and elevation shape, these parts should be taken actions to employ strengthening measures in design.(6) Results of elastic-plastic time history analysis of Liu Bang statue structure, which indicate that dynamic response characteristics conform to the laws above. The strength, stiffness and stability of the structure with enough safety stock meet the requirement of the specifications.
