Traffic carbon emissions of urban residents is one of the main sources of urban carbon emissions, with the deepening of urbanization process and the improvement of motorization, the total amount and proportion of carbon emissions will be further increased. Compared with applying measures like congestion charging, odd-and-even license plate rule, improving the energy efficiency of motor vehicles, using clean energy, it is considered to be the essential to make the urban built environment play a lasting and fundamental role in affecting the traffic travel, so that people can reduce the reliance on cars. In this paper, we take Shenzhen as an example and investigate the relationships among the built environment, resident trips and carbon emissions through analyzing the relevant data on the three. The main contents of this paper consis ts of four parts: research on the interaction relationship among the built environment, travel behavior, and carbon emissions, research on the impacts of built environment on travel distance, research on impacts of built environment on travel mode, research on impacts of built environment on travel carbon emissions. In the study of the interaction relationship among the built environment, travel behavior and carbon emissions, we built the conceptual model of impacts of built environment on travel behavior and carbon emissions by analyzing relevant theories, and proposed expectation hypothesis of the interaction relationship among the built environment variable, travel behavior and carbon emissions, so that we provided a theoretical basis for the follow-up studies. In the study of impacts of built environment on travel distance, travel mode and carbon emissions, firstly the paper determined the factors of built environment as plot ratio, mixed degree, intersection density, distance to the city center and bus station density. The paper also determined the travel behavior variable and the family characteristics variable, then built the models of impacts of built environment on travel distance, travel mode and travel carbon emissions respectively, and analysised the results of the model in the end to acquire the conclusion of impacts of built environment on travel behavior and carbon emissions. The main methods of this paper include GIS spatial analysis and modeling of statistical analysis. Modeling of statistical analysis mainly contains multiple linear regression model and mutinomial logit regression model. In this paper, the main conclusion of the study concentrates on the impacts of built environment on travel distance, travel mode and travel carbon emission s. For the impacts of built environment on travel distance, the increase of plot ratio and mixed degree can decrease travel distance of residents. With the increase of intersection density, distance to the city center, bus station density, the travel distance of residents will increase. For the impacts of built environment on travel mode, the larger the plot ratio is, the larger the probability of non-motorized travel, the larger the mixed degree is, the more public transport and private car travel. When the distance from the center of the city is far away, the motor vehicle travel has a large probability. When the bus station density is large, the probability of public transport travel is also large. For the impacts of built environment on carbon emissions, the increase of plot ratio can decrease carbon emissions. With the increase of intersection density, distance to the city center, bus station density, carbon emissions will increase.
