China has a vast territory, with wide range of villages and towns. Due to the differences of regional socio-economic development, conditions of villages and towns and external macro environment, the development of villages and towns presents a distinct characteristics of regionality, diversity and complexity. Huangpi as the largest, most populous and best ecological area in Wuhan, on one hand its villages and towns development showes significant spatial differences, on the other hand towns of spatial neighboring and similar properties of socio-economic are evolving spatial clustering units. In order to guide the variation development of Huangpi effectively, reasonable classification of spatial cluster types of villages and towns must be adapted to local conditions and treated differently, providing useful reference and experience for the development of villages and villages and towns like Huangpi and other larger districts.Taking Huangpi and its 16 Towns as the study object, the space clustering analysis method was carried out to distinguish the spatial clustering types of existing villages and towns, which proposed the different development paths. Following the main logic line of basic research, situation analysis, type discrimination and path optimization, the article is divided into four parts as follows. In the first part, the basic concepts, theoretical and research situation at home and abroad is expounded, and the main research subject and contents is made clear. In the second part, based on the overview of the development of villages and towns in Huangpi District, four typical spatial differentiation characteristics as its spatial location, resource, economic, social development was objectively descripted combining with the data of 16 villages of Huangpi in 2014, which further reveals the common development problems of different spatial clustering prototype. In the third part, a spatial clustering discriminant system was built with 4 factor families, 12 factor layers, 19 Index factors from four dimensions of the spatial location, resource, economic industry as well as social development, which comprehensively divided the four dimensions Huangpi into three spatial clustering types, namely: the southern city radiation type, the middle integrated driving type and the northern ecological boosting type by spatial clustering methods with the SPSS19.0 and arcgis10.0. In the fourth part, combined the villages and towns space differentiation characteristics and common problems with the above three spatial clustering type of villages and towns, development path of central dimension was put forward from the aspect of function target, industrial development, population transfer, space controlling and traffic facilities guiding, which is aimed at promoting the urbanization of villages and towns with differences.
