Spatial Development Pattern Of Suzhou Villages And Towns In New Urbanization

With the rapid urbanization and economic development, there are still some problems like the extensive use of the land, the destruction of ecosystem, the imbalance supplying of public services facilities, the disappearance of traditional spaces, etc. From such problems, we can see that it’s far from the requirements of present new urbanization.As a result,in the process of new urbanization, it’s urgent for Suzhou to promote a sound sustainable development of urbanization and combine urban-rural space of Suzhou and explore spatial development mode of villages and towns in different areas.According to the background mentioned above, the thesis attempts the analysis on new urbanization and reconsiders the spatial development mode of villages and towns in order to promote a sound sustainable development of urbanization. Firstly, the thesis analyzes the connotation of new urbanization and the requirements of spatial development of villages and towns. It mainly narrates from four aspects such as constructing safe and friendly ecological space, establishing urban-rural correlational industry space, coordinating different rural life space, inheriting characteristic rural cultural space. Secondly, the thesis describes the evolution of spatial development of villages and towns and summarizes development features of present conditions and existing problems, which mainly are imbalance of spatial expansion, destruction of ecosystem, intensive development of industry, low efficiency of space utilization, inequality of ancillary facilities,deterioration of living environment, convergence of development mode, recession of cultural characteristics, etc. Thirdly, with the purpose of solving the problems and from four aspects like ecological space, industry space, life space and cultural space, the thesis establishes specific principles of spatial development of villages and towns and general principles of partition guiding and differentiation development. Lastly, dividing spaces of Suzhou’s villages and towns into three regions like urbanization-dominant regions, rural-dominant regions and scenery-dominant regions,the thesis puts forward corresponding spatial functional system and spatial distribution patterns based on the features of each regions. Accordingly, it wil choose concerning cases to have a empirical research.
