In the course of urban development, inevitably there will have a large number of historical. After experienced the early large demolition and construction of the special period, we gradually come to realize those historical legacy in the largely recorded the process of urban development, are the most vivid samples to study of urban development.But the expansion of urban areas is essential, and the renewal of urban is inevitable, therefore there is a series of problems are placed in front of us, that how to maximize the preservation of our valuable historical, and how to update urban texture, upgrade and extend the price of urban values in the historical environment, and how to solve the contradiction between the old city and the modern life. The developed countries have already begun to thinking about this problem from the last century, and in the new century, urban construction of our country also gradually get rid of the ideas of the “large demolition and construction”, and begin the exploration and research of new ideas. How the new building into the historical context, in order to retain the historical status and value, at the same time, how to keep the current situation and value of the new building into the historical environment, into the fresh blood, which is the original intention of this research.As our country administrative center nearly hundreds of years, Beijing is one of the most historical architectural legacy in our country, and in the modernization construction of is also faced with the problem of the most complex and special in recent decades. Beijing's urban planning is to the Forbidden City as the center, radiating development, and it also makes historical buildings concentrated in the central area of the city; At the same time, along with the modern life, the demand of people also shows diversity, with the ancients of the lifestyle make a big difference, so they need more construction type and form of pattern, and it also led to the contradiction and conflict between the the modern city development and the continuation of history environment, which is the lack of existing research, that not in a certain area make in-depth analysis and research, to summarize more suitable design methods and tactics.In this paper, taking old city of Beijing as the main object to solve the problem, aiming at the current problems and difficulties faced by, combining with the existing research achievements of the architectural design in historical environment, putting forward the suggestion and scheme. Divided into the following several interrelated research process: first of all, to sort out and summarize the evolution of architectural form design in the domestic and international historical environment, to analyze and study the internal factors and the design logic of the new architectural forms in the historical environment, and to compare and summarize the processing methods of typical countries, and then obtaining the design methods and treatment methods. On this basis, the author analyze and summarize in view of the specific historical environment in old city of Beijing, and study of historical environment of new type of architectural form, as well as the logic design under the influence of the different policy, and then puts forward corresponding solution strategy. Finally, the museum of art architectural design of the west block of North drum by the summary of the design strategy, to further improve the design strategy, summarizes the design methods.
