As a consequence of growing water transportation, the environmental problem is raising more concern, while the introduction of new energy technologies for marine power system is the fundamental way to solve it. This paper conducts the research by designing a new marine hybrid system, building a simulation model for the marine hybrid system and analyzing its' simulation performance.In this paper, a new hybrid system designed for the small s ized vessels is proposed. A 19-metre long boat is modified in order to become a hybrid boat. According to the power system requirements, the parameters of each component of the system are decided, and thus the basic performance of the hybrid system is estimated.A mathematical model of marine hybrid system is built with the modular modeling idea. On Simulink platform, the dynamic simulation model of the system is developed. The simulation performances of both single-motor startup and the combined-engine-and motor-drive are analyzed.With the existing model of marine hybrid system, this paper discusses the control logics and strategies, providing a reference for control system design for marine hybrid device.
