Automatic drilling and riveting is an important way of improving the quality and efficiency of aircraft assembly. Off-line programming, which is one of the key technology of it, has become a research hotspot in the field of aircraft assembly. Compared to teach programming, off-line programming can be more flexible and much more appropriate to complex task planning. Combined with the actual needs of the project, this paper studies on the method of task planning and simulation in automatic drilling and riveting machine for aircraft, with the main research contents followed:(1) According to the working principle and process flow of the automatic drilling and riveting machine, the overall solution of off-line programming system developing is put forward based on the actual needs of each equipment in the automatic drilling and riveting machine system.(2) By analyzing the input data of the off-line programming system, a method of building an airframe processing model through its CAD model by UDF and Automation secondary development is proposed. On this basis, a method of extracting and managing is put forward.(3) According to the main content of off-line task planning for machine, end effector and turntable, the method of dividing the machining region of the turntable and method of drilling trace planning are raised, and the planning of effector task is realized by connecting the process database and hole feature of the product.(4) The method of building an simulation referring to off-line NC program was put forward and the main points to defining forward kinematic and inverse kinematic of the machine is concluded. At last, the method of clash detection and solution is proposed, which can modified the off-line program.
