Critical Landscape:the Authenticity And Illusion Of Landscape Urbansim

Theoretically,this paper tries to dosomeresearch and study in terms of Landscape Urbanism,which has been one of the most influential theory in the field of Landscape Architecture.It being in such a realistic condition that,in the academic world domestic and abroad,there are two ambivalent identifications as “assumption” and“authenticity”.Therefore,how to analyse its essence deeply in an objective method becomes the central topic of this paper. Based on this thoughtfulness,the train of thought is to restore its authenticity,criticize its assumption and stretch its possibility through the three aspects of Landscape Urbanism,respectively,historical patterns,contemporary structure and future potential.Practically,this paper focuses on one of the many dilemmas in the Landscape Architecture field,that is,the relation between theory and practice.It being in such a situation that,basically,there hasn't almost been a commutative exchange in any point between theory and practice of Landscape Architecture,because of its absence of theory supporting to dithyrambic wave of practice and the absence of exploration of practice to limit theoretical research.In conclusion,under the frame of cultural logic,based on the excavation of the possible interior potential to deduct and expand,and then providing guidances for plan and design of specific site,that itconstructsone oflandscape architectural theories,which terminology is critical landscape,is the central topic for discussion of this paper.First, in the context of historical genealogy of landscape architecture, landscape Urbanism not only gets rid of the main stream of Landscape Architecture theory in the 20 th century,such aspattern,style,meaning,but also inherits the study vein of perspective in ecosystem,multidiscipline and integration,site dominated. Analysing the positive meaning of Landscape Urbanism in the innovative aspect, it is that Landscape Urbanism emphasizes themobility,horizontality,procedural,decentration,superficiality,infrastructure,neterogeny,difference and so on,which makes it diversified.And it's the first time that the term of post-modernity have been quoted in the Landscape Architecture field.The logical loopholes of Landscape Urbanism,on the one side,revealcultural logic consciousness in the contest of post-modernity,on the other,slur the mediational function of cultural logic and scale applicability.Thus,the malposition in logic and the unification of consciousness limit its possibility to develop.Secondly,discussing that Landscape Urbanism can guide a positive,creative and critical landscape from the dimension of future potential.Finally, if we look landscape architecture as an active, critical strength, and the space strategy of site that can express a theory foundation of a political vision,social mechanism,cultural representation and ecological and sustainable strategic art pattern,based on which offer guidance for space planning and design and which could separate with them.Consequently,that this paper chose Landscape Urbanism to be the object of study,on one hand,interprets its essence through the way of researching historical genealogy,on the other,analyses its possible pros and cons in a critical method.Finally,completing a study trial of a self-circulation system,with the supportof one further study of Landscape Urbanism(i.e.critical landscape),ranges from the historical analysis andtheoretical construction,to the criticism and practice of Landscape Architecture.
